Claire Larsen

clare larsenClaire first began practicing meditation at the age of nineteen at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California and began practicing yoga at the age of fifteen to help manage a dance related injury.  She has continued to practice Iyengar-based Hatha yoga as well as Ashtanga and Tri-Yoga.  Her study of meditation has continued in the Sotto Zen tradition; living as a student in residence at San Francisco Zen Center's Green Gulch Farm and more recently with John Daido Lori's Mountains and Rivers Order in NYC.

She finds the blending of Buddhist meditation with hatha yoga to be a seamless and powerful practice that encourages students to trust their experience and to find a personal definition of yoga.  Since 2005 Claire has taught drama and movement classes for children in both private and public schools in Manhattan and Brooklyn.  She is the assistant director of Page Turners, a free after-school homework and literacy program in midtown Manhattan where she recently began a yoga and meditation class.  She is a graduate of Vajra Yoga & Meditation's 200 Hour teacher training as well as their Social Action Teacher Training.

Claire currently teaches a yoga class for actors and works privately with adults, children and families of all ages and levels.
